Have you had your Vit D levels checked for optimal health.

Did you know that there was a study back in 2006 that found if your vitamin D levels were below 75 nmol/l, the likelihood of a bone stress injury can increase by 360%.   This is particularly significant in runners.  The frustrating thing is that if you get your levels checked by a GP they will only use the numbers for disease prevention and not optimal health.   SO, if you have had them checked and the numbers are around 60- 70 nmol/l the report may say normal.   But, for peak bone mineral density they need to be nearer 125 nmol/l.  We would always recommend you get your levels checked and come and talk to Sharon at the clinic for some advice on how to help reach peak mineral bone density and prevent injury.  There are some great options for private tests if your GP won’t help.
